Recipe: Green Cocoa Mama Shake

Heavens above, I can’t stop sipping!

And when it’s a green smoothie, that ain’t a bad thang.

Green Cocoa Mama Smoothie

Listen, when the first trimester morning sickness derailed my eating -talk about processed carb craving…- it was (is) hard to get back on the healthy wagon.  Spinach or noodles?  Hm… noodles, thankyouverymuch.

Today I had an idea that had the potential to be totally gross.  But -joy of joys- it is addictively sippable.  (Get over it, spellcheck.  Sippable is a word.)

Recipe:

Two massive handfuls of fresh spinach

1 1/2 frozen bananas

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1-2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tsp. vanilla

2 tablespoons flaxseed

Soy or Almond milk (or whatever nut milk ya like.)

Mixa mixa mixa in a blender (thank you, Mama, for my new Vitamix! -she sent it as an early Mother’s Day present.  Ain’t I a lucky duck?!  So thankful.)

I was surprised how light green it looks when it tastes SO DANG CHOCOLATEY!

So, girls, this can totally double as dessert (if you can get over your dessert being green.) But if you are sensitive to caffeine, don’t have it too close to bedtime or you’ll be wired.
